Overview

“Around Fintech in 8 hours” is an online course developed by CFTE, the Centre for Finance, Technology and Entrepreneurship. Through 16 modules ranging from “Why is finance being transformed today” to an overview of technologies such as Blockchain, the programme provides learners with a solid introduction to Finance 2.0. The course features experts and senior leaders from the largest institutions such as HSBC, Citi, Ping An but also startup CEOs and renowned academics.

The course is structured to help professionals acquire a solid knowledge of Fintech in an accessible format and is endorsed by a Certificate of Completion for those who successfully pass the 16 modules.

Curriculum

A Google search of “Fintech” finds more than 30 million results, which shows how massive this space is – and how difficult it is to have a good grasp of its ramifications.
The course will focus on 4 areas that are important to have a good knowledge of Fintech and is designed to equip you with a solid foundation to understand today’s world of finance.

The 16 modules are divided in 4 chapters that cover the following topics:

Chapter 1 looks into the state of finance today, and how Fintech is changing the financial industry. It goes through concrete examples of Fintech applications, and describes a framework to understand financial innovation.
Chapter 2 delves into the technology aspects of Fintech, from the fundamental reasons why technology is having such an impact in finance, to key technologies such as cloud computing and blockchain.
Chapter 3 analyses new Fintech areas that are having a growing impact on finance, from the way banks are built, to the new methods of financing companies via ICOs and cryptocurrencies.
Chapter 4 examines the companies which are creating Fintech, from the startups to the banks, as well as the investors funding these innovative projects, and Internet giants getting into finance.
